2 Week Dr's Appt!

Today Jackson had his two week check up with the pediatrician. Everything went great! Since the last visit he had gained 17 ounces, and grew 1/2 and inch! The Dr. was so pleased with the weight gain. She said normally they are happy when the baby makes it back up to their birth weight (Since most babies lose up to 10% of their body weight in the first week or so) The Dr. did a full exam and he is one healthy little boy! Poor little guy definitely did not like his temperature taken! He had a little poo as soon as they inserted the thermometer in his bum! The Dr. also took a look at this belly button, she jiggled the umbilical cord stump and it came off! YAY! We can give Jackson a proper bath now :)

Passed out waiting for the Dr to come in

Getting Checked out

Help me!

Yes I am one of those creepy mom's that has to document everything! Gross I know, but it was what tied him               and I together for 9 months :)

Jackson's First Trip to the Pumpkin Patch!

Today we went to the pumpkin patch to pick out a pumpkin for Jackson! We went to a local church that had a fall festival type thing going on. It was beautifully decorated and had lots of places for photo opps! We tried to take a few pictures of Jackson but he wasn't really in the mood. It didn't help that he had a dirty diaper and had spit up all over the front of his shirt.. Poor guy!

So cute!

Our little guy is just so precious! I can't help but take TONS of pictures of him! I guess being home during the day and up all hours of the night gives my plenty of opportunities to take lots of pictures.... Here are just a few! I am terribly biased but I think he is pretty handsome!

Our First Day Home Alone!

Today was our first day home alone without any help.. It went really well! Jackson and I woke up around 9am after being up last around 6:30am. Daddy came in when he left for work to say goodbye and then we slept for a little while longer. When we got up we started to get ready to go meet Hunter for lunch and to show Jackson off to the people in his office. We literally had to start getting ready around 9:30 to leave the house around 12! Feeding, changing, dirty diapers, installing car seats, taking out the dogs, and showering take forever with a newborn! We made it though! We met Daddy for lunch which was great :) Jackson slept the whole time we were at lunch and while we were at his office. He woke up just in time for us to make it home to eat again :) After our afternoon snack Jackson had a nice little poop! Here are some of the many faces he made during! haha!

Thursday October 14th

Today was Jackson's first Pediatrician appt and first day out (Other than going to the hospital). Everything went great. Jackson has lots a little bit of weight since he was born, but apparently that is normal. He was born at 7 lbs 14 oz and weighed in at 7lbs 4 oz today. The doctor was really nice and helpful with all of our questions. Hi Jaundice levels came back slightly elevated but the Dr. wasn't concerned. He figured they would even themselves out when he starts to eat more. We were worried that Jackson hadn't pooped in two days since being released from the hospital but seemed going to the Dr. scared the poop right out! within 10 minutes of being there Jackson pooped and then 10 mins after that pooped again! Looks like the little guy def didn't like being cold, naked and poked and prodded by the Dr!

As if being prodded by the Dr wasn't enough we went and had Jackson's newborn pictures taken today :) They looked adorable! i cant wait to see them all! He is a natural little model :) Here is a sneak peak! My mom and Doris came with us for the pictures... It was so nice To have both of the grandmothers there!!

Back to the Hospital We Go...

Wednesday October 13th- Even thought we got released from the hospital yesterday we had to come back to the hospital to have Jackson's Billirubin levels checked for Jaundice, as his levels showed he had a minor case. My heart broke when they pricked the bottom of his foot and had to scrape the blood! Jackson just cried and cried! (Which in turn made me cry) We felt terrible for putting him through that :( After that traumatic experience we came home to relax and settle in :)

Jackson Charles Arnold has Arrived!

Jackson has arrived! He joined us this morning at 7:14am on October 10th, 2010. He weighed in at 7 pounds 14 oz and was 20 inches long

Jackson's Birth Story

What an eventful weekend! Jackson's arrive was literally a weekend affair! The first sign that Jackson was starting to get impatient came on Friday night. Hunter and I went to dinner at Dave and Buster's where I started to have some mild contractions. They were a bit uncomfortable, def not Braxton Hicks contractions. We started timing them, they were coming ever 5-7 minutes. We were told by the Dr. to call them if they were 5-7 mins apart. So we called the Dr. when we got home. He told us to come on into the hospital to be monitored. Once at the hospital I was hooked up to a fetal monitor and a contraction monitor. I was dilated 2 cm's and was 80% effaced (we already knew this from our Dr. appt earlier in the week) I was contracting ever 3-5 minutes but i wasn't dilating so it is not considered active labor. We got sent home after being monitored for a couple of hours. Dr. gave me an ambien to help me sleep... That was the end of me for the night!

The next day I was still mildly contracting but nothing to painful. Around 4 o'clock that afternoon I thought my water broke. Shortly after that I started having stronger contractions that were definitely more painful! I called the Dr. again who told me to come back to the hospital where they would do a test to see if my water did break and would monitor my contractions again. Around 6:30 that evening we went back to the hospital, where the Dr. found that my water had not broken but my contractions were def stronger but I was still only dilated to a 2. We got sent home again! We made it home around 9pm Enough time for Hunter to finish watching the FSU game! After we got home everything really started up. Within in an hour of being home, the contractions became extremely painful. To the point where I was laying in bed balled up, with an ice pack, in extreme pain! I knew this had to be it! I was still afraid of calling the Dr back for the third time! I didn't want to be the girl who cried labor! This was so much different though.. I could barely walk and was very nauseous.. Poor Hunter didn't know what to do! After about three hours of the contractions we made the decision to call the Dr back again. We once again headed back to the hospital. We felt like regulars! As soon as we got there they found that I had dilated to 4 cm since the last time I was there. I was in active labor! I was admitted right away and taken to a room. Luckily my mom had gotten in the car and decided to drive up from Key West earlier that day after we had gone to the hospital for the second time. She figured it was going to happen anytime and might as well get a head start! Such a good idea! Once I was admitted she was only a couple of hours away! We also called Doris and Charlie and my friend Kristin in Tallahassee. They all headed to the hospital! Everyone arrived around 3-4am. Once in the room I was hooked back up to all the machines where they found the contractions to be quite strong and pretty close together. At this point I was so ready for some drugs! It was about 2 am and I had enough of the pain! Nurses took my blood and ran some tests to see if I was OK to get the epidural. After what seemed like forever! The anesthesiologist came in! Getting the epidural was a breeze, not nearly as painful as everyone says they are. The relief was almost immediate. I could barely feel any contractions, but I could still move my legs and toes. It was amazing! I was able to talk and carry on conversations which I had not been able to do 10 mins earlier! Shortly have the epidural the Dr came back in and found that i was dilated to 5. She came back an hour later and i was at 10! it was time to push. By this time is was about 6:30 am. After 45 mins of pushing Jackson entered the world! at 7:14 am he made it :) I was able to hold him right after he was born while Hunter cut the umbilical cord. He was then taken across the room to be cleaned up while the Dr. finished up with me. Jackson was beautiful, he barely cried when he came out! Hunter went out and delivery the news to everyone that Jackson was born at 7:14am, weighed 7 lbs 14 oz and was 20 inches long. He was perfect! For the rest of the day we spent time visiting with family and friends and getting to know our new addition :) Jackson was perfectly healthy and slept most of the day.
